Cate and I first bumped in to each other in the mid 80's and it was love at first sight, a love that has lasted 23 years. We have shared and experienced many things together from intimate loving moments to extreme adventure.
In terms of careers we are both successful artists.
We have lived in Southern California other than spending a year in the Virgin islands.
Our sailing began in 1986 when Cate bought me a 26' sailboat for my birthday. I looked out the window as she pulled into our ranch towing the sailboat behind our little Toyota truck, wow. I had been reading Robin Lee Graham's "Dove" for the tenth time as she wondered what she would get me as a gift, a sailboat? Since then we have owned a few different sailboats and one offshore fishing boat. Like many we had the dream of a circumnavigation and bought a Harden 45' and equipped it for a world voyage but 9/11 made us change our minds so we sold her and bought a fishing boat. After a few years away from the sail we decided to buy another sailboat. We wanted a small production boat that we could equip for coastal cruising and island hopping. Having owned two Catalina's over the years i was always impressed with their simplicity of design and their ability to handle the rough weather in the Santa Barbara Channel. I found a beat up Catalina 36' MKII that had spent all her days in the charter fleet and thought she would fit the bill.
